Sorrell was reacting to news that France's Publicis and U.S. group Omnicom had agreed to combine in a deal that would catapult the world's third- and second-largest advertising companies above UK-based WPP. Radio personality David 'Kidd' Kraddick, 53, dies at charity event

(Reuters) - Radio and TV personality David "Kidd" Kraddick, the host of the syndicated show "Kidd Kraddick in the Morning", died at a fund-raising event for his charity in New Orleans on Saturday, his network said. He was 53. The Texas-based host, whose program was aired on dozens of radio stations across the United States, died during a golf tournament held to raise money for his foundation, Kidd's Kids, according to a joint statement from the morning show and its syndicate, YEA Networks. ...

Former supermarket worker in Britain tops UK album chart

LONDON (Reuters) - Jahmene Douglas, a former supermarket worker and talent show contestant, topped the UK album charts for the first time on Sunday with "Love Never Fails", the Official Charts Company said. Meanwhile, Swedish artist Avicii kept the top spot in the British singles chart for a second week with "Wake Me Up", which became the fastest selling single of the year a week earlier. Douglas, 22, was a contestant on a TV talent show "The X Factor". His debut album features 10 tracks including Gospel interpretations of other artists' songs and a duet. ...

Singer-songwriter JJ Cale dead at 74 after heart attack

By Tim Ghianni NASHVILLE, Tennessee (Reuters) - Grammy Award-winning singer and songwriter JJ Cale, one of the most versatile musicians of his era who played guitar and spanned music genres from rock 'n' roll to blues and jazz, has died after suffering a heart attack, his official website said on Saturday. Cale, 74, won a Grammy in 2008 for "The Road to Escondido," which he recorded with singer-songwriter Eric Clapton. While he never attained Clapton's level of stardom, he had a wide-ranging influence, particularly his style of playing the guitar and the songs he wrote for music legends. ...
