By Jonathan Allen NEW YORK (Reuters) - A woman attempting to deploy nearly two dozen bug bombs inside her small New York City apartment caused a "partial collapse" of the five-story building, injuring 14 people, the fire department said on Saturday. Fire marshals said the woman told them she set off 20 bug bombs, also known as foggers, without incident on Wednesday inside her Chinatown apartment. ...

California man defrauds state, loses Star Wars collection

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - The force is no longer with Eric Hodgson, a California man who gave up a collection of Star Wars memorabilia worth more than $10,000 in a plea deal to charges that he defrauded a state agency out of nearly $1.9 million. Hodgson was charged in April with 22 counts of grand theft after the California Department of Transportation hired him to publish advertisements for construction contracts in local newspapers. ...

Firing 'attractive' assistant is legal -Iowa court reaffirms

By Kay Henderson DES MOINES (Reuters) - An Iowa dentist did not discriminate against a female assistant he fired for being "too attractive," the Iowa Supreme Court ruled unanimously on Friday in its second decision in the case. In December, the all-male court ruled that Dr. James Knight did not discriminate in firing dental hygienist Melissa Nelson after more than 10 years' service because he found her too attractive and his wife saw her as a threat. ...
