Actor CMonteith arrives at Do Something Awards in Santa Monica, CaliforniaBy Alex Dobuzinskis (Reuters) - Canadian actor Cory Monteith, 31-year-old heartthrob of Fox's musical comedy television series "Glee", was found dead on Saturday in his Vancouver hotel room, police said. Police and paramedics found no signs of foul play and the cause of death was not clear, British Columbia Chief Coroner Lisa Lapointe said at a news conference. Monteith had talked openly about struggles with substance abuse, and in April he completed voluntary treatment for unspecified substance addiction at a rehab facility. He had also been treated in a facility at age 19. ...

Vivus invites three First Manhattan nominees to join board

(Reuters) - Vivus Inc said it has invited three of the nominees proposed by its top investor First Manhattan Co (FMC) to join its board, regardless of the outcome of the vote at the obesity drug maker's annual meeting. The annual shareholder meeting of California-based Vivus will be held on July 15. FMC, a New York-based investment advisory firm, has repeatedly criticized Vivus saying it badly mishandled the launch of its obesity drug Qsymia and failed to land a large company partner with deep pockets and a big enough sales force to help the drug reach its blockbuster potential. ...
