Redmond, a catcher with the Marlins from 1998-2004, ended his playing career, which included spells with Minnesota and Cleveland, in 2010. The hospital said that Bubka Jr was "in recovery room" but could not elaborate on the reasons why he was admitted. Spanier, 64, also is charged with endangering the welfare of children, conspiracy and failure to report child abuse in the Sandusky scandal, which rocked college sports and focused national attention on child sexual abuse.
