Horse racing-Walsh mount dies on opening day of Aintree Thursday, Apr 04, 2013 12:17 PM PDT LONDON, April 4 (Reuters) - Battlefront, ridden by Katie Walsh who hopes to become the first woman to win the Grand National on Saturday, collapsed and died on Thursday on the opening day of the Aintree festival. "Very sad to lose Battlefront today. We had many great days and he was a great teacher. He was a gent and I will miss him very much," Walsh said on Twitter. Armstrong pulls out of masters swim event: report Thursday, Apr 04, 2013 12:05 PM PDT (Reuters) - Lance Armstrong pulled out of a masters swimming event in Texas on Thursday after the organizer of the meet came under pressure from world swimming body FINA to bar the banned cyclist, the Austin American-Statesman said. Armstrong, who was stripped of his seven Tour de France victories and banned for life last year before admitting to doping, withdrew from the meet shortly after organizers informed his agent Bill Stapleton that FINA had ruled him ineligible.
