A police source said Ablyazov was arrested in the village of Mouans-Sartoux, located about 8 km (5 miles) north of Cannes. A court hearing has been scheduled for 10.30 a.m. (4:30 a.m. ET) on Thursday, the source added. No further details were immediately available. ...

Michael Madison, 35, appeared in a Cleveland courtroom on 14 charges including aggravated murder, rape and kidnapping. Two of the victims were strangled, authorities said. STOCKHOLM (Reuters) - Prosecutors on Wednesday dropped the eighth and final murder charge against a man who for two decades was thought to be one of Sweden's worst serial killers until it emerged that all his confessions were false. In the early 1990s, Sture Bergwall, a patient at a mental institution, confessed to murdering more than 30 people found dead in Sweden in preceding years. In a series of trials between 1994 and 2001, Bergwall was convicted of eight murders, despite there being no forensic evidence or witness statements. ...

U.S. District Judge William Martini on Tuesday handed the sentence to Karen Febles, 48, an executive assistant at Citibank assigned to work for William Salomon from 2000 to 2011.
