Reuters - (Reuters) - BMC Software Inc is looking to sell itself and has retained Bank of America Merrill Lynch to help find a buyer, the Wall Street Journal reported Monday. The business software maker's bankers have approached potential suitors including software companies and large private-equity firms to see if they are interested in buying BMC or a part of it, the Journal said, citing sources. The company's shares were up 4.3 percent at $43.26 in afternoon trade on the Nasdaq. At that price, BMC has a market value of $6.9 billion. ... Full Story

Accenture buys Nokia Siemens IPTV assets

Reuters - (Reuters) - Consulting and outsourcing group Accenture has bought some internet protocol television (IPTV) assets from Nokia Siemens Networks to bolster its online video capabilities, it said on Monday. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Accenture said the newly acquired IPTV software, assets and capabilities would be part of its video solutions business that helps companies launch video services at a low cost. Internet protocol television uses the same technology that powers the Internet to transmit multimedia content over telecom and cable networks. ... Full Story

White House targeted in cyber attack

Reuters - WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The White House's computer system was targeted in a cyber attack, a senior administration official said on Monday, but no classified systems were breached. There is no evidence that data was taken in the incident, the official said, adding that the attack was identified early and did not spread. Reuters - (Reuters) - Most U.S. high-tech companies expect to export more cell phones, tablets and other electronics over the next two years to growing middle-class populations in developing nations, citing free trade pacts and rising labor costs abroad, a survey found. About 85 percent of U.S. high-tech executives polled said the Obama administration was somewhat or very likely to meet its goal of doubling exports by 2015.
