The Chinese e-commerce giant, in which Yahoo owns a 24 percent stake, nearly tripled its net income in the first three months of the year and increased its revenue by 71 percent. Yahoo did not provide any details about what was responsible for the strong performance of the privately-held Alibaba Group, which is widely expected to have a public offering later this year or in 2014. ...

Vimpelcom ended negotiations with Apple over iPhone sales this month as the U.S. company would not soften its contract terms, the paper said, citing a person close to the operator. MTS ended its contract in June but is in discussions with Apple about resuming iPhone sales, the paper said, citing the company without specifying who gave the information. ...

The broadcasters, including Walt Disney Co's ABC and Comcast Corp's NBCUniversal, contend Aereo infringes their copyrights. In April, a panel of the U.S. 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals refused to close down Aereo while a lawsuit over the service continued in Manhattan federal court. ...

Among the improvements, Ford plans to increase the maximum all-electric speed on those vehicles from 62 miles per hour to 85 mph. This will boost fuel efficiency by allowing the car to rely on the lithium-ion battery for a longer period of time. The move affects the Ford C-Max and Fusion as well as the Lincoln MKZ hybrids. ...
